Prediction is about being one step ahead. The idea with Firefly’s Intelligent prediction technology is to identify a problem, in a machine or a process part, even before ignition sources have been generated or before the risk has arisen and give information to enable preventive measures and avoid failure.

With Firefly’s fire prediction technologies you can see what is coming and stop fire before it starts. Data analysis detects the signals that usually precede a fire, while presence of certain gas combinations in the atmosphere is picked up using gas detectors. These powerful tools can stop a fire outbreak at your plant, preventing disruption and production downtime.
Stop firefighting – start fire prevention
Don’t fight fires – stop them arising in the first place. The idea with Firefly’s prevention technology is to detect and extinguish ignition sources, within milliseconds, before the fire has started. Firefly’s unique TrueDetect™ technology enables detection of all type of ignition sources such as hot friction particles, sparks and flames.
Once a fire starts, its size increases exponentially over time and so does the damage to your processing line. The quicker the ignition source in your process flow can be identified, the less disruptive the incident will be. Ideally, with effective fire prevention measures, you won’t even notice an incident occurred.
Firefly’s spark detection system uses TrueIR™ detectors and advanced signal processing to detect hot particles in the process flow, even if they are not glowing. Sparks visible to the human eye have a temperature of at least 700°C (1292°F). But many materials, such as wood, can catch fire at much lower temperature, around 400°C (752°F). By the time sparks can be seen, it may already be too late.

Once a fire starts, damages and costs caused by the fire will increase exponentially every second. The quicker a fire can be detected and suppressed, the less disruptive the incident will be. The aim with Firefly’s Protection Technology is to detect and suppress fires quickly enough to avoid damages and avoid costly down-time of the machine or the process. In the best case scenario, you will never notice you had an incident at all.

When protecting critical machinery or high-risk areas from fires, the response time of a fire protection system is essential. The quicker a fire can be detected and extinguished, the less damage it will cause, production losses can be kept to a minimum and employee safety will be greatly enhanced.
Firefly’s Quick Suppression System is designed to detect and extinguish flames at the earliest stages of an outbreak. It protects critical machinery and high-risk areas from fire, by responding rapidly, using Firefly’s own high-performance flame detectors and water mist system.

The Atex dust explosion methodology is structured in three steps. 1. Avoid formation of explosive atmospheres. 2. Minimize the risk for ignition 3. Mitigate the effects from an explosion. Today, Firefly have the technology to help you in all steps. Firefly’s new range of passive explosion protection products ‘EXsolvo’ will efficiently mitigate the effects of a dust explosion and keep your personnel safe.

When a material is reduced to dust, each particle has a very large surface area relative to its mass. Material in this form can easily catch fire and a cloud of combustible dust can cause an explosion. Many common materials can form hazardous dust, including paper, tissue, wood, grain, flour, milk powder, sugar and many others. Good housekeeping routines are usually sufficient to keep this hazard at bay, but if a dust explosion should still occur, our range of passive explosion protection products can significantly reduce damage, downtime and financial impact.
