Stop fire in its tracks

At the earliest stages of a fire, it does not take much resources to stop it developing further. The longer you wait, the harder it gets. Firefly’s fire prediction technology sounds the alarm at an early stage – or, if the signs are only vague, advises the operator to take preventive action, such as checking the machine at the next shift change.

Spot the early signs

Firefly has access to millions of hours of data logs, from users in various industries all over the world, and has identified patterns that usually precede a fire. When such a pattern is identified, the operator is notified. The gas detection technology, originally developed in the aerospace industry, picks up the earliest signs of fire gases and raises visual and audible alarms. Through intelligent analysis of several different gas combinations, the detector can identify a combustion process at an early stage.

Detect the process earlier

Firefly’s gas detector can identify an ongoing pyrolysis process at an earlier stage, compared to other detection methods, according to a report by SP Swedish National Testing and Research Institute, RISE. The technology has, for instance, been installed at the world’s largest wood pellet plant, Georgia Biomass’ Waycross facility, with an annual production of 750,000 metric tons, to protect its staff and assets.

Put out emerging fire before it goes further

By analyzing signals from the plant and comparing these to patterns that usually precede a fire, the Firefly system can raise an alarm if a suspicious pattern emerges. Combined with detectors that monitor tell-tale combinations of gas in the atmosphere, a smoldering fire in, for instance, a tissue storage facility, can be identified and extinguished before developing further.
